Microtaggants®

Microtrace Microtaggants are available in dry particle form and can be ordered in gram or large quantities (hundreds or thousands of pounds). Microtaggants are microscopic particles ranging in size from 20-1,200 microns.

Molecular Taggant

The molecular taggant is invisible and undetectable without the Microtrace detector. The molecular taggant is completely soluble in water or solvent based systems. This taggant is delivered as a resin masterbatch or as a concentrate formulated into one of your raw material components.

Up-Converting Phosphors

Up-Converting Phosphors are delivered in bulk powder form. The individual particle size is 1-3 microns.

Taggant technologies are a masterbatch security additive. Microtrace compounded plastic resin masterbatches are created with our taggant technologies embedded in them, which act as virtual fingerprints. The taggants are used to authenticate genuine injection molded, extruded and rotationally molded products.

We produce custom masterbatch quantities for letdown at pre-determined rates or as a fully compounded resin for immediate processing. We offer numerous types of resins and specialty engineered resin systems including:

• Polyetheretherketone

We also can work with your existing compounder or resin supplier to incorporate Microtrace taggants into the materials you already use. Please note that molecular taggants are available only in pre-formulated masterbatches.

Microtrace offers a wide range of clear security films. Our taggant technologies are extruded directly in film, coated in PSA layers or delivered as coded transfer tape that can be applied directly to films. We also offer taggants for thin film applications.

Our films are available in various standards of mil thickness, roll, sheets, and pockets, making them ideal for any type of application, including:

Microtrace taggant technologies are available in custom thermal transfer labels and fusible graphics mainly used in apparel and footwear industry. We can deliver finished heat transfer labels and fusible graphics according to your design specifications or we can work with your supplier to incorporate taggant technologies into the materials you currently use.

Applications for our heat transfer labels and fusible graphics include:

• Yes / No identification and authentication of genuine product
• A control to identify unauthorized production / manufacturer over-runs

Microtrace has three different types of taggants available for security inks:

Microtrace is able to deliver taggant technologies in paper. Our taggant technologies are incorporated in the pulp when paper is made, ensuring evenly distributed taggants throughout each sheet. Security papers are a great way to deter counterfeiting. We can also work with your existing paper supplier to incorporate our taggants directly into the materials you currently use.

Marker Pen

Microtrace Marker Pens deliver Microtaggants to virtually any surface in small amounts. Each Microtaggant code is blended with a clear ink “carrier” material within the pen.

Spray Application

Microtrace Microtaggants and Microdots can be packaged in 8oz bottles with a clear lacquer for spray application. This solution is mainly used for product diversion tracing in the cosmetic/haircare industries.

Brush Application

If you prefer to brush on Microtaggants or Microdots, a brush applicator is easy to use and cost effective. Our brush applicators come with a small ½ oz. bottle to hold the taggant solution.
