Marking substance for use in explosives

For over 40 years, Microtaggant® Identification Particles have been a trusted solution for enhancing the security of commercial explosives in Switzerland. This technology plays a critical role in mitigating the risks associated with explosives in industries such as mining, demolition, and avalanche control.

Commercial explosives are inherently high-risk products, susceptible to misuse by unauthorized individuals or groups. Microtaggants provide a reliable method for post-blast tracing, enabling explosives to be linked back to their manufacturer and lot number. This crucial capability not only supports criminal investigations but also helps minimize liability for explosives manufacturers.

Microtrace’s Microtaggant Identification Particles are uniquely encoded and have magnetic and fluorescent layers to ensure the taggants are easily and reliably identified and located n post-detonation. For explosives tagging applications, Microtaggants are distributed exclusively through Microtrace’s legally affiliated company, Blaine Identification Technologies, LLC.

Proven, trusted, and approved, Microtaggants are recognized as a preferred marking substance by Switzerland’s Central Office for Explosives and Pyrotechnics (COEP).
